Our Story

We are Youssef and Safia, a young married couple from Marrakech, and MoroccosRoots started from a simple feeling: there is something special about the things made here.
In Morocco, you can still find objects that take time to create. A rug woven slowly by hand. A ceramic piece shaped and painted individually. A lamp formed by someone who has spent years learning the same gestures.
We wanted more people around the world to experience that.
So we created MoroccosRoots.
Not to build another home décor store, but to create a place where the objects we love can travel beyond Morocco without losing the story of where they came from.
The People Behind the Pieces
When you look at a finished product, it is easy to see only the object.
We see the person behind it.
The hands that worked on it. The time it required. The skill that cannot be learned overnight.
That human side of craftsmanship matters to us.
Our hope is that, as MoroccosRoots grows, it also helps create more opportunities for the Moroccan makers whose work gives this store its meaning.
And when one of our Moroccan rugs or ceramic pieces arrives in a home thousands of kilometers away, there is something beautiful about knowing that a piece created here has found a new place in someone else’s life.
Things That Feel Alive
We never wanted MoroccosRoots to feel like a catalogue of identical products.
Handmade pieces have personality.
Sometimes a line is slightly different. A shade changes from one piece to another. A weave is not perfectly symmetrical. These small details are often exactly what make an object feel alive.
They remind you that somebody made it.
That is the kind of beauty we want to share.
Whether it is a rug, a ceramic bowl, a lamp, a copper piece or a pair of Moroccan slippers, we want you to receive something that carries a little of the place it came from.
Why MoroccosRoots?
The name came naturally to us.
Because this project is about roots.
The roots of craftsmanship. The roots of the people who create it. And our own roots here in Morocco.
Moroccan craftsmanship has a long history and continues to be represented and promoted through organizations such as Maison de l’Artisan.
But for us, the story is also personal.
We are building this business together, learning as we grow and trying to create something we can be proud of.
We choose what enters our collection with the same question in mind:
Would we be happy to have this in our own home?
If the answer is yes, then we hope it can find a place in yours too.
Our Journey Is Just Beginning
MoroccosRoots is still a young story.
There are only two names behind it today: Youssef and Safia.
But every order allows that story to become a little bigger.
A piece leaves Morocco.
It travels across borders.
It arrives in a new home.
And somewhere along that journey, two worlds become connected.
That is what makes this project meaningful to us.
Thank you for being here and for giving us the chance to share a little of where we come from with you.
With love from Marrakech,
Youssef & Safia
